Keler Bela
Am Schönen Rhein Gedenk’ Ich Dein, Walzer, Op. 83
Arr. CPE Strauss
00:00 / 09:55
Kéler Béla (1820-82) was a Hungarian composer, of Slovakian origin whose mother tongue was German and whose birth name was also German Albert (or Adalbert) Paul von Keler.
He had a successful career as conductor and composer throughout Europe and wrote a lot of dance music, almost all of which has disappeared from the repertoire. This is his most famous waltz, but even that has only been recorded in an incomplete version. I have orchestrated the first edition piano score.
