My orchestration from the Cranz piano score of this waltz by Johann Schrammel.

I found it quite difficult for two reasons.

The score doesn’t have much in the way of dynamic markings so I have had to guess some of them.

Normally when I am doing orchestrations I am looking at piano scores that were themselves of works that were originally conceived for orchestra. I am doing a kind of reverse engineering with reference to existing full scores by the composer if I have access to them. This piece was written, I assume, for the Schrammel quartet and some of the themes don’t sit easily for orchestra. I haven’t seen much of Schrammel’s writing for full orchestra so I really have had to use rather more imagination than usual. It sort of works … mostly.
