My orchestration from the first edition piano score of this waltz by Franz Morelly.

Morelly was one of Joseph Lanner and Johann Strauss I’s best competitors in Vienna in the 1830’s. This piece dates from about 1840 and shows him in fine form.

Morelly’s later work is hard to come by as he worked mostly in India but I do have one later waltz in the pile and am looking forward to trying it.
