Albert Parlow

Mainklänge, Walzer, Op. 120

Arr. CPE Strauss

00:00 / 12:15

This is my orchestration from a piano score sent to me by a correspondent. I had never heard of Albert Parlow. The covering email said he was famous for his Amboss Polka. I had never heard of that either (but see here - )

It’s a thoroughly professional waltz and has its moments, mostly waltz 3 and later.

Judging from the structure, I’d say this was about 1870. It’s still has the earlier five waltz sections but they have been extended. It makes the piece quite long (about 12 minutes) as opposed to the more normal 9. The number of sections drops to four and sometimes three to allow for this at this period.
