My orchestration of this waltz by Johann Schrammel. Schrammel has become my go to composer whenever I need a fix of proper Viennese dance music. I can’t exactly put my finger on the reason why, but these pieces just couldn’t have been written by a non-Viennese.

They are always a bit tricky to do though. Most piano scores I orchestrate were written for orchestra and it is a reverse engineering job to get back to an orchestral score. Schrammel’s waltzes were written with his quartet in mind and so need a bit more imagination to make an orchestral score. I normally keep my imagination firmly under lock and key.
