My arrangement from a set of first edition Mechetti parts for three violins and bass of this waltz by Joseph Lanner.

It looks like there’s no title. Several sources have a dedication to Maria Anna, Empress of Austria and one source calls it the Maria Anna Waltz. But most have nothing. The Mechetti parts just say “Walzer, Op. 101”. It makes it difficult to find an appropriate picture.

It’s been on my metaphorical desk for years. I don’t like working from these quartet parts as, apart from the mechanical difficulties, all of the middle voices are missing and too much guesswork is required. There are a couple of places where I’m not absolutely certain I’ve even got the right harmonies. They work but there are some possible ambiguities. Ah well, better like this than on a shelf somewhere.

One deliberate mistake – There’s a bit in waltz 5 that should be for solo violin. I’ve used a flute as the Noteperformer solo violin sets my teeth on edge.
