My orchestration from a piano score arranged from this Lanner waltz by Maxim Alkan. It’s a top class waltz. 5B is well worth waiting for. Why these don’t get recorded properly is beyond me.

He must have known a good plumber. There are two natural trumpets which are from time to time pitched in F sharp and A basso.

For a completely different view of the piece there is a version on Youtube for string quartet by the Wiener Solistenquartett - https://youtu.be/WP8XNuJqD3I . It’s a much more nostalgic and sentimental approach than mine, but I do like it. I think these pieces should have more energy though.

It was first performed in February 1836.
