Philipp Fahrbach I
Elegant, Walzer, Op.1
Arr. CPE Strauss
My orchestration of the Haslinger, first edition piano score of the first waltz by Philipp Fahrbach, dedicated to Johann Strauss I.
It was published in 1831 so Fahrbach cannot have been more than sixteen years old when he wrote it. I am struggling to think of a better waltz written in 1831 including by Strauss himself and Lanner. Ok, there’s Das Leben ein Tanz, and …
It’s pretty original too. It doesn’t really resemble Strauss at all, although there is one section that wouldn’t be out of place in a Lanner waltz.
Better than I was expecting.
