My orchestration of the first of two Galops de Trompettes “par Musard” (according to the score) “Arrangé pour le piano par A. Musard (fils)”.

I’m assuming these are by Philippe Musard and I am not the victim of a marketing exercise.

It is, shall we say, uninspired. Not a patch on the gallops by his contemporaries Joseph Lanner and Johann Strauss I or even the few Morelly and Fahrbach I gallops I have seen. One can only assume it was the spectacle of his concerts that was the draw. As I don’t have the option of including fireworks, gunshots and breaking chairs I am left with a pretty ordinary gallop.

I am not going to do the second one. No thanks very much.
